A leading independent school in London, founded as part of the new wave of Victorian public schools in 1830. University College School is located in leafy Hampstead, a suburb of North London from where a mixed student body is educated from ages 3 to 18. The school, better known as UCS Hampstead, was established alongside University College London with whom it was long affiliated. The school is a member of both the Eton Group and Haileybury Group.
