Eton College

Eton is quite possibly the most famous school in the world and has become a byword for educational excellence, opportunity and prestige. The all-boys, all-boarding school is located in the town of Eton, just outside of London and situated in close proximity to Windsor Castle. This august establishment has been the preferred school for Royals and Aristocrats for many centuries since its foundation by Royal Charter in 1440. The school's alumni list includes a multitude of politicians, nobles and former former Prime Ministers as well as the United Kingdom's current Prime Minister.

Eton was established to prepare young men for entry to the great universities with a formal relationship with King's College at the University of Cambridge. The college was set up to follow in the tradition of the free grammar school incepted by rival, Winchester College and still maintains instruction in classics to this day. The college is divided into a number of houses, with Kings Scholars (a merit scholarship) afforded different privileges.

Eton is well-known for its curious traditions, uniform (of full tails and top hat), sporting prowess (with powerhouse crew rowing programmes) and the capacity to instil and foster an imagination and sense of adventure in its boys. Many famous actors, musicians, adventurers, soldiers and explorers called Eton home in their later schooling years. The school is a proper major public school in every sense and has been recognised as one of a handful of global benchmark independent schools. The school maintains close links with peer schools in the UK, through the Eton Group, and further afield through G30, WLSA and through close ties with The Roxbury Latin School and The Doon School amongst others.
