Thayer Academy

Thayer is a traditional College-Preparatory school in the far southern suburbs of the Boston Metropolitan Area. Thayer was established in 1877 as part of a fashionable trend to create academies providing a modern, scientific education and eschewing the classical focus of latin grammar schools. The school was founded by way of endowment from Gen. Sylvanus Thayer who is considered the father of both the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Thayer School of Engineering at Ivy League Dartmouth College.
