There is a distinct growing trend amongst the world's top schools, typically progressive, outward-looking and keen to compete against their peers on a global scale and to attract the best and brightest pupils from an international talent-pool - these schools increasingly seek to work with selected partner institutions to develop best practice and to build relationships and partnerships beyond their localities.
The Strategic Alliance of Global Educators (SAGE), founded by Nanyang Girls' High School, is a network that brings together many of these schools. SAGE runs biennial conferences at a member school's campus and works to develop links between faculty and the student body through shared ideas, exchange programmes and so forth.
SAGE's inaugural conference took place in 2012 in Singapore where the founding members attended and agreed a forward agenda and guiding principles for membership and for future conferences. Conferences have since taken place at: RDFZ's Xishan campus (2014); The Perse School (2016); and Avenues: The World School's NYC campus (2018); with the 2020 conference at Pathways School's Guragon campus.
The alliances' membership comprises many household name schools in their respective markets, if not internationally. They are considered to be extremely prestigious schools at the pinnacle of education and who share a common global citizen outlook. Many of the schools have dedicated international programmes and are accredited members of other, similar organisations, such as G30, Round Square or the Strategic Educational Alliance of Southeast Asia.
