Athletic Conference of Independent Schools


The Ivy Preparatory School League (as distinct from the separate Ivy League university conference) is an athletic conference consisting of eight private day schools in New York City offering varsity competition in a range of sports for both boys and girls. Many of the participating schools are members or associates of the prestigious New York Interschool network.

Spread across a number of sites in the well-to-do Park Slope area of Brooklyn, Berkeley Carroll is a K-12 co-educational institution with a particular reputation for STEM subjects including maths and engineering. The school's estimable alumni list includes a number of accomplished actors, authors and journalists amongst a glittering coterie of mathematicians and scientists. The school competes in a variety of varsity sports as a member of the New York State Association of Independent Schools Athletic Association.

Grace Church School

Founded by the neighbouring Grace Church as a school for the education of its choristers, the school has since become co-educational and offers a traditional college-preparatory programme. The school is fully independent of Grace Church but maintains a close working relationship and proudly maintains its' Episcopalian heritage.

Situated in the affluent Brooklyn Heights neighbourhood, Packer was established as an all-girls college-preparatory school in 1845 but has since moved to being fully co-educational. The school included a two-year junior college for pupils until the 1970s but now sees many of its graduates offered places at leading universities and colleges across the United States.

Saint Ann’s School

Named for Saint Ann's Church, an Episcopal church in which the school was established, Saint Ann's is a well-regarded co-educational college-preparatory school with a fine arts focus. Staten Island Academy

A small independent school in Staten Island and the borough's only non-denominational private school, Staten Island Academy was founded in 1884 as a Latin school in the grammar school tradition. The school currently educates boys and girls as a K-12 college-preparatory school with pupils regularly being awarded places at Ivy League and other top tier colleges and universities.

Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School


Originally an all-boys grammar school in the classic Latin tradition, Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School was attached to Columbia University until 1864. The school turned out young gentleman for admission to the Ivy League institution until it's merger with The Leonard School for Girls in 1956. The school offers tuition through grades K-12.
